Game day decision

Ok folks we are getting close and I still can’t say with any certainty that the race will be able to go. This is due largely to the smoke being blown in at a moments notice. I was up there tonight marking the course and it was beautiful until about 5:45 and within minutes it was very smoky and not a healthy environment. Especially while running hard.
So with that said I am going to roll the dice as I want the race to happen but if it is unsafe to proceed I will unwillingly have to cancel race morning. I am very sorry for all of this but I just want to be honest and realistic with all of you. Dealing with mother nature is always an adventure.

CHANGE OF PLANS

Hey all, just found out that we are now staging for the half and 50k at SUNRISE LODGE RATHER THAN WEST VILLAGE. Very well signed off of Century Drive so follow signs to SUNRISE LODGE not West Village. This change is due to the Forest Service staging helicopters involved in fire fighting efforts at West Village. This change will not affect the courses to drastically. 50k may be a mile longer and half should come out just about right. Thank you in advance for being flexible with these last minute changes due to the Pole Creek fire.

High Alpine Half Course Preview

Hey ya’ll, going to be hosting a preview run of the High Alpine Half Course. Run will include 11 or so miles of the actual race course. Not going to run the whole enchilada but will include the really neeto parts. Meet for this run in the parking lot behind the Footzone at 7:15am on Sunday August 26th then we will head up to Dutchman snow park lot and begin the run. Bring whatever you may need to complete a sweet trail run up in the high country of Central Oregon. If you have any questions email superdave@superfitproductions.com

Trail Recon = Snow

Went up to the course yesterday to check out how the snow was doing. Still lingering a little but is going fast. Way ahead of last year as we have had some warm weather and a much more typical winter. I think in a couple weeks the trail will be clear for the most part despite the size of the banks of snow I saw yesterday. Going to head back up at the beginning of August to revisit the course so stay tuned for more info. Even though there was substantial snow on the course the views were pretty amazing.

As we celebrate our independence I am thinking of running through big’ol hemlock trees up near Flagline. Still got a bit of snow to melt off before this can become a reality. Keep an eye on the site as I am toying with the idea of a training run on the High Alpine Half course. It will likely be either at the end of this month or the first part of August.

Updated participant list for the 2012 Flagline 50k is now available on the Flagline 50k page. As it stands right now we are at 76.

Hammer Nutrition is on board again for the Flagline 50k for 2012. As an added bonus they are kicking down some goods for the High Alpine Half as well. This is obviously a huge help to the event and for those of you who have ever used their stuff you know how good it works. HEED and Hammer Gel will be at all aid stations for both races. Thank you Hammer nutrition for once again supporting our sport.

Wanted to send out a big thank you to Visit Bend. For the third year in a row they are throwing down the cash purse for the elite field of ultra runners to compete for. Without this support Bend would not an event that attracts some of the fastest trail runners in the country to our fun little city. Thank you Visit Bend!
